DONATE TO A GOOD CAUSE and help STOP the 2nd largest criminal industry in the World: HUMAN TRAFFICKING!!!
Did you know: More and more young girls are smuggled from Mexico and other parts of the world each year, many ending up in the US, some here in our own New York City? It is estimated that up to 17,000 or so women and children are trafficked to the US on a yearly basis (humantrafficking.org) and that up to 300,000 children are victims of sex trafficking also each year in the US (Carr, 2009).
A project I have personally taken interests in is the Prevention of Human Trafficking! DIF is a Mexican public institution that provides assistance to children and families with low recourses. It strives in protecting children, adolescents and their families. Within all their functions, DIF has an international affairs department that in collaboration with other foreign institutions participate in multiple programs. DIF is dedicated to working collaboratively with organizations where individuals are at increased risk of being trafficked. Although this problem is happening all over and very close to us, many are not aware; therefore I have offered the DIF Oaxaca office—which is the office running the bracelet program— to assist in raising awareness and education in order to prevent this horrible crime.
The education to the public consists in sharing the story of how many of these cases occur. The story is shared via a bracelet and a story card. All proceeds are then use to create more bracelets and also supply DIF Oaxaca with some for them to sell and use the funds to support the Project to End Human Trafficking and assist with psychological recovery of those that have had the misfortune of being victims. If you are interested in obtaining a bracelet and donating $5.00 or more; please contact me at noelleenothingbut@yahoo.com.
